MAY NEWS

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to announce that our new Children’s House classroom has been approved and will be opening Ms. Kristina’s Class on May 22, 2023. Ms. Kristina will take her students to her new classroom along with several new and transitioning students. We are so excited to have this classroom open and grateful that we are done with construction at this facility. It has been over 5 years of planning and construction to finalize all the phases of our project. It has been a long road and we appreciate everyone’s patience and support over this time.

This past month we have begun the process of accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). According to WASC, “The purpose of the Commission is to foster excellence in elementary, secondary, adult, and postsecondary institutions, and supplementary education programs. The Commission encourages school improvement through a process of continuing evaluation and recognizes institutions through granting accreditation to the schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with the established criteria.” At MAU, we want to continue our high standards and strive for even greater success with our students. We are working on our self-study right now with our initial visit by WASC slated to take place this fall. We are excited about starting this journey and continuing our work to provide the best programs possible for our students.

The day of our Spring Sing and Play has arrived!!! The event will be held at Memorial Park in Upland starting at 5:00 pm. We are closing early at 2:30 pm so that we can prepare the stage and seating and give the children the opportunity to relax and eat prior to the performance. The children need to arrive at the performance site by 4:30 pm. Children will need to join their teachers at the side of the stage. After your child performs, they can be picked up at the designated pick-up spot away from the stage. Parents, families, and friends are asked to find seating for the performance while the children prepare! We have a designated number of chairs but there are picnic tables available for spectators to sit at and watch the performance. Spectators are also welcome to bring their own seating. The children have been practicing and are excited to show you the songs, dances and plays they have been working on. Your teachers have sent specific info about the attire needed for the performance. We will record the performance and provide a link to every parent with no charge. Parents are welcome to record the event for themselves if they remain out of the way of other spectators as they do so.

Our next Donuts with the Director will take place on Wednesday, May 24th @ 5PM. We will continue ongoing discussions about the school. This event provides parents with a way to give the Administration feedback and share ideas as well as get feedback from other parents. I look forward to sitting down with our parents again, I really enjoyed our first 2 meetings. We have moved the meeting to provide options for parents who cannot attend a morning meeting. Hope to see you there!
